It cost me £3 for three TEC plates (Supposed to be £100 for the same model but I managed to get some from Hong Kong for £1 each) . And it works. Everything I explained and said works perfectly and the temperature is dropping. My brother sorted out a voltage regulator so it is taking in what needed and it all works.

So the costs are nothing. They cool very very well and they don't get too hot with the fans I have on top of them. I'm not explaining what I did again. It works better than I expected.

Even if it didn't work I enjoy taking my computer to bits and re-building it so it's win win in my eyes.

Pics or it didn't happen

Also what are your temp dropping? And I still don't understand what you've done now with what TEC's.

No pictures. I also don't like how negative everyone is. My computer is with my brother he is re-wiring and changing the TECs for better performance. Not entirely sure what exactly it is he is doing but it worked the last time. Radiator was freezing cold when I tested. Didn't have time to check the temps on my main screen as I'm in and out of hospital at the moment and my brother said he would take care of the TEC this week whilst I'm relaxing. And yes it did work. Obviously no-one understood anything I said, or English for that matter. I may possibly be watercooling the hot part of the TEC as I have some spare blocks that fit perfectly, but whatever it is my brother has done, the cold side gets colder and the hot side doesn't get hot as it once did so it's win win, I just need to air cool them with good fans.

Did you not see this picture? It's what I was thinking you were (trying to) describe. I understand it is difficult for you to describe but we are only curious to see how you attached the tec's and the cooling fans

Also, you were asked what the Vmax of the tec's are. Can you supply that info? I find it difficult to imagine a high-wattage tec (if it is) attached to a fan controller for regulation.

Regardless, congrats on your project. I too find it enjoyable to mod my computer and it's peripherals for looks and performance.

I saw it, yes. It's not difficult to describe. I didn't attach it to the fan controllers. I asked if it was safe or if it would work. When I said I did everything I said, that was in regards to the radiator, not the fan controller. I would have said I did everything I asked about.

I posted in another topic what the Vmax/watts/size/colour/heat/flying capacity/how to bake a cake, and because of all the other questions I forgot to copy and paste. I'd post pictures explaining, but I'm not with my computer and I will not be until the end of next week when I'm back home for more Hospital visits.

I'm sorry but this idea has FAIL written all of it. I would take Elloquins advice and use an air conditioner.

TEC's are not constantly subzero. When you apply a heatload to the coldside, delta will decrease. Which means the coldside could reach 20-25C when components are stressed. Granted same rule applies to air conitoners, however they have a far greater Qmax (BTU) and are far more efficient.

I personally think that TEC's require watercooling as standard. Air cooled TEC's will achieve poor results. There are two main reasons for this, TEC's are inefficient, even when undervolted. So its highly unlikely that the additional heatload from the TEC can be adequately cooled by an air cooled heatsink.

The second reason is delta, because the heatload can not be adequately cooled by an air cooled heatsink, the hotside may reach 80-90C. TEC's only have delta of 60-70C, and thats rated at heatload=0 which can never occur in real world conditions. So if the hotside did reach 80C, and the delta was 60C. The coldside would be 20C.

I think you will find that your the one being negative. Members of overclock.net offer their knowledge and time for nothing in return.

It doesn't have fail written all OVER it. I said I was considering watercooling them as I have a block for them and yes it does work. I've tried it. I also said i have NIDECS and Delta fans over the top of these, combination of around 1000CFM... blasts hot air out faster than you can imagine. I'm not being negative I've asked for advice before regarding this and other posts about other problems and I've just had negative feedback in return. I'm not complaining I enjoy this website. Must just be the people responding. Anyway, read EVERYTHING I wrote and I said I was considering water cooling them any way.

Watrcooling will be much quieter, and will outperfrom an air cooler. If you do happen to watercool the TEC's. You have to take into account of the costs and time. And a air conditoner may be cheaper, and will greatly outperform on what your suggesting.

Unless you like starting fires, Do NOT use a fan controller. Even the higher GUAGE molex connections are incapable of handling the amount of current that TEC's require. Granted lower wattage TEC's will run perfectly on molex connections, however will most definitely NOT run on a fan controller. However if indeed you are using low wattage TEC's, then they will be incapable of cooling the heatload and make ZERO difference to CPU temperatures. Thus the project becoming a complete FAIL.

Could you tell us which TEC's you are using?

GOOD LUCK, You will most definitely need it

It sounds like his brother has made a proper setup, so we don't have to worry about it.

Anyways what you were originally proposing would not work, as you never mentioned even putting a heatsink on the hot side.
