New to custom cooling need help

Thread Starter
So when I bought my GTX 460, I was like WOW. I wont even bother overclocking this thing, I can already kill EVERYTHING I threw at it. Now, the 560 is out. I wont be upgrading, but my buddy is. Need to keep with with him on benchmark scores

So I was about to overclock, but I checked my idle/load temps and was not happy. At stock configuration, fans at max, I would get 29C idle, and when running Furmark, I got 88C with case panel on, 85C with case panel off..(gonna need to look into some better airflow...)

So I need custom cooling, those temps did not make me too happy, especially at stock settings. I have never done anything with custom cooling before, here is what I had in mind.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835426026

I need help with compatibility, they don't mention that at all... for any of the coolers. I have NO idea what brands to get, ect.. In the picture of the product I provided a link for, it shows it comes with a whole bunch of other parts, they look like heatsinks, but idk what they would be for

Thanks, if you guys could also provide any other information that you think would be useful for me, that would be great

Gelid Icy Vision will fit your PNY GTX460 (as I can see it is a reference design from PNY website). It will lower the temp significantly and reduce the noise as well.

Those other little heatsinks are for you to put onto the card's RAM and VRM.

One more thing: make sure the one sold by Newegg is Rev 2 (which makes it compatible with GTX460) and it seems that the model number listed by them is ''GC-VGA02-01'' and it is Rev 2.

PS The designer of Icy is a member here. His name is Tony Choi (tonychoi is his OCN name) and he comes in once in a while.
