i'm running catalyst 10.9, seems to be fine with everything else that i do.

Try updating to the newest 11.1 drivers and disabling dynamic shadows and vsync.

I know there is an option about hardware accelerated sound that can cause unstability, I alo had problems when I installed mly Xonar DX, the game was still thinking I was used the onboard audio and crashed, I just neded to delete the settings folder in My Documents (be careful the savegames are also in that folder, just back them up and delete the Mass Effect folder in My Documents>Bioware).
