Temps, Second Opinion

Thread Starter
I have a i7 920 @ 1.25v running at 3.4GHz and its currently idling at 30C and goes up to 55C under Prime.

The loop is res > pump > rad > CPU > res

rad is HWLabs GTX240
fans are medium YateLoons
CPU block is Apogee GTZ
paste is IC Diamond
pump is MCP655
using Distilled + kill coil

My temps arent that much different than when I used my H50. Am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Ambient is ~65C = 18-19C

55c is nothing for a i7. You can overclock a lot more. You should be able to hit 4ghz.

you aren't really loading up the rad, so you aren't taking advantage of the bigger surface area.

Voltage looks kinda high. I have 3.8ghz @ 1.14v @ 48~C on air. try dropping your voltage and your temps will be even better.

Take the CPU to 4 GHz and watch as you get much better temperatures than with the H50. Watercooling will scale much better than an H50.

Higher heat loads are where wc excels, idle and low OC will be about average.

You could try a block reseat (use a small amount of TIM) could help temps a bit if you had a bad mount.

You have 18C in your room? Wow aren't you freezing?
I have 30C in my room now in summer.
If you are at 55C with 18C, I wonder what are you going to do in summer with 10C higher ambient temp...

I know. I think I'm just unlucky. Anything lower and I get BSOD.

I took it to 4.0GHz and its around 62C. I guess its alright? I just thought I'd get lower numbers. My ambient is pretty low (18C) and my loop is fully dedicated to the CPU.

It is freezing. I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong cause in the summer it gets to 37C :[

62C sounds a little high, what voltage were you using? Then again remember you don't have a great block so your temperatures will be about 3-5C higher than if you had a decent block like the Rasa or Supreme HF

I'm using 1.27vcore. I know I'm using quite a lot of voltage and my block isn't the best, but is this around the results I should be expecting? I know not everyones setup isn't going to end up with the same temps but it just seems like mine is quite an outlier so I think I might be doing something wrong.
