Excel Question

Thread Starter
I'm working on a simple excel sheet to make my life a little easier at work and need some help. I have a drop down list with 6 values in it (lets says in D1). Is it possible to have cells D2-D12 change according to what value is selected in D1?

Yes, but it'll only work with numbers AFAIK.

If you have a 4 in D1 and in D2 you want to add 10 to D1, then enter in "=D1+10" into D2 (without the quotes).

Yes, but it depends how much data you have. I use the =VLOOKUP( formula and I manipulate thousands of rows of data and I simplified some referencing by punching in a value into one cell and have 6 cells spit out the data based on the value I punched in. It's not restricted to just numbers though.

That's not what I was looking for. Let me be more specific. I sell replacement parts for some industrial equipment and we have set prices for different types of customers. So the drop down list in D1 would have our different types of customers. So when I select one of them I would like the prices in D2-D12 to change accordingly.

This sounds more like what I'm looking for. I will have to look into this.

What version of Excel are you using? You can definitely create drop down options in 2007...I haven't used 2003 in years so I can't remember if that can be done or not. As for having pricing change for a given drop down option, I'd have to play around with that since I haven't done it. I'd assume it would be a combination of a few formulas.
