Intel Core I5 750 Overclock Fail?

Thread Starter
I recently upped my overclock on my core i5 750 to 3.6GHz.

I set the Blck to 180 and the multiplier to 20x with a voltage of 1.28V in the bios. I also set the QPI multiplier to 16x (from default of 18x)

heres the cpu-z validation: Right Here

After running Prime 95 Small FFTs setting for 17 minutes, worker one stopped and it showed a fatal error message: "FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file."

My temps were hovering at around 59-61C on full load with prime running for about 5 minutes

Does this mean its unstable? How much do I have to increase the voltage to get it stable?

Can we get a little more information? Like what are all of your voltages set at?

Also, try a base clock of 190 and a multiplier of x19 for an odd-numbered multiplier.

Don't ask why, lol.

If I had to guess, it's VTT/QPI and DRAM voltage that is the problem.

OP, read this. Follow it. Your problem will be solved. http://www.techreaction.net/2010/09/...ide-lynnfield/

Then it might be a QPI voltage issue. What is yours setting at?

Try bumping the IMC up to 1.2v. Combined with my suggestion earlier about going 190x19.

I tryed exactly that; blck 190 CPU multiplier 19x and IMC 1.2V and it refused to boot up into windows :/

I restarted from the button and upped the cpu voltage to 1.3V and it did boot up and now running prime 95, so far so good... temps at 61C
