The PNY OC 460 1GB is $169.99 atm after rebate, with 2 free games. Not a bad deal if it's in your price range.

Price to performance wise this doesn't seem like a great buy at the moment, so why stretch my dollar that far?

I'm not looking to be the biggest baddest guy on the block right now, I'm looking to be able to play what's out there for the next year, with good performance with it lookin good, and it seems like the 4xx series can deliver that. When cash starts flowing in I'll look towards beefier stuff, but for now I'm watching my dollars carefully.

However you make a good point, maybe I should just try to wait it out a bit longer with what I have and see where things end up going rather than lock myself into a purchase now. I'll keep that in mind a little longer.
You can always find a 570 used here... All im saying is that wait a few weeks and see what the market brings... thats all.

However I of course would be honest about my reasons for selling. Many people don't care about a little bit of noise if they're goin to use it for a folding farm or as a cheapo upgrade/SLI.

I will of course include that you can fix the problem with varnish (ha, thanks jy) however I'm not willing to take the time, risk, and and strain required myself (after reading a varnish guide) when a $30 upgrade option is available.

Sounds like the 768mb road is a viable one, thanks guys! Everywhere I read people are saying "screw 768, go 1gb!", but at a $100 price point it's hard to ignore.
Using varnish to fix that problem is a BAD idea. It IS cape whine, that's the sound of overstressed/overheating capacitors outgassing, the varnish prevents them from outgassing but can cause failure more quickly. I know, I have this problem with my 480 and VSync off.

The Cyclone is essentially reference without a shroud and slightly larger "arms" for the heatpipes. Everyone harps on about it but who wants the heat in their case and the bigger pricetag?
The size of the fan is what matters when we are discussing about the Cyclone. My number one choice when it comes to GTX 460 is ASUS DirectCu but I believe that it is little bit more expensive.

I would also like to mention a fact which is obvious but it seems like we are all neglecting or not aware of. The difference between the 768MB and the 1GB version is marginal i.e. the only difference that you see in a real life scenario is less money in your bank account. At the moment I feel like I should have stayed with the 768MB version instead of wasting my money for 1GB. The games that I play at 1920 X 1200 have no impact whatsoever from the lack of VRAM or bus width. The greatest benefit for me is that the 1GB card has better cooling but I should have gotten 768MB with good cooling once they were discounted due to low demand for these cards. My Palit GTX 768MB and the ENGTX 460 DirectCu showed no visible differences in all of the games that I tried on both cards.

I'm pretty sure it's just a vibration, and that using something to stop the vibration would be fine. Also, solid caps don't let out any gas.

However, you bring up a good point ... V-Sync will get rid of cap whine, because it's almost 100% associated w/really high fps (i.e. considerably more than 60)
