Audiophiles LOOK HERE! - Page 4

Want bass? Get the AKG K518 DJ for about $60-70 on most stores. Earcups can be swiveled for portable use, and isolate a lot of noise with its closed-ear design. Bass is very good with these cans and should satisfy the genres you specified. Careful with the clamp though, it might squeeze your head.

Of course, the legendary Audio Technica ATH-M50 is another solid choice. A bit bigger than the K518 but sounds much better for $100-120 if you look at places. It is also more comfortable to the head with less clamp.

I have these:

See my sig..

I listen to hip hop and rap, bass is pretty good.
As for portable, only problem is that the cord is 10ft long.

IEM, if the OP needs portability and is a basshead . I'm thinking about grabbing it myself.

Yea I use a track like that when I'm testing headphones in store. Fine on my ATH M35s, but based on a month's worth of listening on my SRH-840s before I returned them, and a test listen on the even worse SRH 440s, and the 280 Pros, which were nearly unbearable, I think my ears would probably start bleeding.

I usually use Epica's Design Your Universe, because that was the original track I had issues with.

Nightwish's Nemo is pretty bad too, because its all clustered around the chorus. Even the 'sh' sounds are bad.

Probably doesn't help that most of the music I listen to has female singers who can really belt it. If you're listening to death metal or that auto-tuned crap its probably not that bad.
