Chinese people. A very high number of PSU manufacturers (good ones and bad ones) out there have those weird, nonsensical names.
Seventeam, Linkworld, Super Flower, Andyson, HuntKey, even Channel Well and SeaSonic... Not sure if Echo Star is a manufacturer or just a brand but there's another stupid name for you. Great Wall makes sense at least since they're Chiinese and all. I think HEC stands for something weird but I forget what. Deer Computer is... original, too.

That's because they don't sell units outside of Asia. You can find Super Flower units in NZXT and Kingwin PSUs in the US though. They've been making very good stuff lately.

The H in HEC stands for some city in China.

Echo Star, Blue Star, and Powmax are all brand names used by Leadman.

Also, the Superflower Platinum unit isn't the first to meet 80PLUS Platinum; it's just the best so far, and I'd in fact pick it over the SeaSonic X560. But they're only selling like a dozen of them so far, and in Taiwan only.

Do some PSU homework on HardwareSecrets, you will know who uses Channel Well Technology, Super Flower and Seasonic PSU. These are like the top PSU out there I keep reading about so far, if your PSU isn't a rebrand of them then you probably got some crappy PSU. Pretty much ranking is like Seasonic > CWT > Super Flower. Anything else and it's probably craptastic. PC Power & Cooling kind of went down hill after OCZ acquired them.

This only applies to mostly top end PSU's:

XFX, Corsair = Seasonic
Thermaltake Toughpower = Channel Well Technology
NZXT Hale90, KingWin Lazer = Super Flower

Lots of rebranding, none of these companies actually make their own PSU's. In other cases they get these PSU makers to create them a custom PSU for their specifications.
