C300 128GB Boot speed issue

Thread Starter
I have just put together my new build and I am having issues with booting, it basically takes forever.

My build:
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost)Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB 1600
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi)
Hard Drives: Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB SATA III & Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM
Power Supply: CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-750HX 750W

Windows 7 64-bit

This is my first SSD drive so I have zero experience with these. All I did was put all the components together and then using the Windows 7 disc starting installing everything. I get absolutely atrocious boot speeds it seems like, (60s+ alone at the ASUS splash screen). It seems to operate fine once I get into windows and in various programs and games.

Can anyone provide any insight?

I installed windows with both SSD and HDD being plugged in, if that matters.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try and go into the BIOS and disable the full screen logo on boot. There should be an option for that. If it's going normal speed in OS, it's not a problem with Windows 7. It may be a compatibility issue between your Mobo and SSD.

I disabled the full screen logo on boot in BIOS, unfortunately it did not help. The only difference is that instead of sitting at the splash screen it sits a blank screen(black) for about the same amount of time.

Have you updated your BIOS yet? If not, http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=FpufhQASBFHNvccl and get BIOS 1053

I just did this and my slow boot problems went away, I guess I was wary of updating my BIOS cause of all the warnings that it could crash my system all together. Thanks for your help!

I see your C300 is running in IDE mode, try turning on AHCI mode

I thought that was done just before installing windows in BIOS, any way to do it after everything has been installed? I didn't know about having to turn on AHCI since I never used a SSD .

Also, did you update the firmware?

If not you may want to do so, but I believe that you may need to re-install the OS again.
