Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Msahci

In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK (default value = 3)
On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
Now reboot into your BIOS and switch to AHCI
Reboot
Windows will "install new hardware"
Reboot
Finished

But you're already running in AHCI mode (there are a lot of incorrect posts in this thread) and you have the latest firmware. In short, there's nothing more you need to do. Your C300 is performing great!

Yeah, the value of Msahci was already set at 0, and my SSD is new so it came with the latest firmware. Thanks for the help!

If not you may want to do so, but I believe that you may need to re-install the OS again.

C300 firmware update
I wouldn't recommend that. The C300 0006 firmware currently suffers from a problem that causes it to hang for a split second up to 3-4 seconds for some people.

Of course you could be one of the luckies and not experience this issue. Or weigh the gain and potential loss against each other and decide for yourself.

If your performance is fine, don't do it.

You will need to make the change in Bios to AHCI then reinstall your OS

And just because its new doesnt mean it has the latest firmware. They have new firmware on their site for the C300 drives with documentation on how to perform the update. Makes a world of difference if everything is up to date.

I don't know why people think that you SSD is in IDE mode. From the bench it shows it's in AHCI and the scores reflect that. The firmware 006 is up to date as well which it shows in the bench.

There is nothing else you need to do in order to improve performance of your SSD.

A good thing to know. Had I heard of this issue prior to updating the firmware I probably would have skipped it.

I must be one of the "luckies". *whew*

It was the first thing I did, and there seems to be no issues thus far.

I know. People don't pay attention. As I said earlier, it is in AHCI and he already has the latest firmware. It's like some people have read a few threads and now have "stock" responses "Enable AHCI" "Update your firmware"

I had this problem with 0002, as well.
It didn't happen very often, though, and still doesn't.

In the past month maybe once or twice.

iastor = IDE
msahci = AHCI

OP, did you change the AHCI setting for the marvel driver?

The Sata2 and Sata3 controllers have differenet places where you set it to AHCI
post #20 of 22
I am sorry pangeltveit, but you are wrong. iaStor is in fact AHCI. It is using Intel's NB.

If you don't believe me, look at his speeds and that should tell you.
