gtx 570 versus 6970 versus 6950

one thing i hate about building systems, your mind always changes.

I'm choosing between these 3 cards for my future SB setup (2500k on a p67 Sabertooth)
and i need help deciding which one's best for my needs

a few things I want to get out of the way first:
I do not plan on playing on resolutions higher than 1920x1080
I plan on putting in a second card for xfire/sli 2-3 years down the line
i plan to OC

now a few pros and cons i heard about each card:

Pros:
570 - Physx, better drivers, energy efficiency, better dx11 support
6970 - 2 gigs of ram, good xfire scaling
6950 - 2 gigs of ram, x fire scaling, modding shaders (dont plan on unlocking to be safe)

Cons:
570 - 1.25 gigs of ram
6970 - heat and power consumption
6950 - heat and power consumption

I plan to play some of the newest games out there on max settings with at least 30fps, might have to tone down the settings in some cases. Does physx make a difference? Is dx11 support important?

Could you please tell me what card is better in your opinion and explain why?

thanks

Do you already have the Sabertooth? If not, don't buy it, it's ASUS's gimmick brand. Buy a Maximus.

I would personally go with the 570. The 6970 is around 5% more powerful but lacks PhysX.

how about crossfire/sli scaling? My gpu should also have good future capabilities

the maximus is unfortunately $100 more than id ever spend on a mobo, the sabertooth is basically an expensive p8p67 pro with a different color scheme which is worth my money imo

and yea, the physx has been swaying me towards the gtx 570 as well...

Buy the 6970 so you actually have the proper power being supplied to your card smile.gif In my opinion when you're spending $300+, might as well spend the extra $50 to do it right the first time.

Otherwise, if you're looking for resale value, I'd think a GTX 570 might be better. I plan to resell my 6970 as soon as 28nm cards hit the market, so I don't know what I'll get for it.

I had to make this decision last week after my old gtx 280 broke. I am VERY happy i switched to the red side, the HD6970 is playing everything perfectly at 1920x1080 i was very tempted by the gtx 570 but the 2.gb of ram on the 6970 pushed me more towards it.

6970 - 2 gigs of ram, good xfire scaling ram is great, it's still more efficient than Nvidia's, same DX 11 support
6950 - 2 gigs of ram, x fire scaling, modding shaders (dont plan on unlocking to be safe) Don't trust the unlocking, it's not as common but still a chance if you wanted to try, I would as they are/were the same card

See Red

Cons:
570 - 1.25 gigs of ram Your res is fine
6970 - heat and power consumption Temps are fine/ still uses less power than Nvidia's -- Especially at idle 2D mode
6950 - heat and power consumption Same as 6970

I plan to play some of the newest games out there on max settings with at least 30fps, might have to tone down the settings in some cases. Does physx make a difference? Is dx11 support important? Physx is okay, but you barely notice much with it, it's just a selling point. ATi has some other 'selling features'. DX 11 will become mainstream for games like DX 10 was. It's always safe to have tech that supports slower released software. Remember hardware is always ahead of software

Could you please tell me what card is better in your opinion and explain why?

thanks
