460 or 560 or 470? so many choices now o.o

Thread Starter
argh so many choices. im upgrading my card in a few days once i get paid and i was pretty sure i was going to get a gigabyte gtx 460 but now the 560s have come out and are $250 while the 460 i was going to get is $220 and ive found some 470s for $250-260. what do you all think is the better card for a single gpu system and will probably last a decent amount of time? heres a list of cards i was looking at now. thanks for any information.

I'm waiting for the 460 to come down, a good balance would be the 560 as it does have some advantages over the 470.

Well a 560 surpasses a 470 flat out. Just go for the 560 already. It's the best one from the bunch.

the 470 has become obsolete unless it drops in price, and at those prices I would recommend the 560 based on reviews

The 470 overclocked to 800-1600-1800 is like having a stock 570, so I wouldn't discount the 470 so quickly, as they can still overclock higher.

The only 470 I would recommend is the N470GTX TFII, right now it's $240 after $50 MIR.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127513

Remember, the 470 has 448 CUDA cores vs 384 on the 560, it overclocks really well, plus the TFII is cool and quiet vs other 470's.

Everytime you see performance benchmarks for the 470, those are all at stock 607 MHZ and that doesn't tell the true performance the 470's are capable of. Especially if you use your computer in a CS5 environment, or video editing, the 470 would be the better choice in that case due to the added CUDA cores, utilized @ 1/8 FP32 vs 1/12 FP32 on the 560, which basically means the 470 would be better in CS5.

Without rebates, and if you're strictly gaming the 560 is probably the best bang for buck @ $250.

You may want to wait a bit, I'm sure they will go down in price too.

Does a msi GTX 465 gold edition unocked to a 470 have all the same specs as a normal 470, like with 448 cuda cores?

If so then the 465 is also considerable given the lower price and rebate offers.

If the 465 GE "unlocked" that's because it was a 470 to begin with, ALL 448 CUDA cores, plus the 10 memory chips are there.

But the cores, and 2 mem chips were BIOS locked and sold as a 465.

Remember though, not ALL GE's are guaranteed to unlock.
