New gaming/hd video rendering build - Page 2

For 4x2GB get 2x Kingston HyperX Blu for $100, $90 AR (1 rebate per person I believe)

Don't bother with Sandy Bridge LGA1155; there's no upgrade option from there at all (unless you go Ivy Bridge but you would still have to buy that P77 motherboard first before Ivy Bridge CPU). With AM3 you have a direct upgrade path (motherboard then CPU) to Bulldozer which will feature 8 32nm integer cores (or more correctly worded, 4 SMT modules) at no less than 4Ghz stock speed. That's right, 4Ghz stock speed (Expected 3.5Ghz start speed + 500Mhz turbo across all cores + even more turbo across fewer cores). It WILL be worth the wait.

Keep in mind nVidia chispet on AM3 boards don't overclock as far. I recommend you get one big card (i.e. 1 GTX 570) and a good AMD chipset motherboard.

And screw H70, go with the beast of all coolers

ok so i after reading a few reviews i decided to go with i7 2600k with Intel BOXDP67BG LGA 1155 mobo. newegg is out of stock on the mobo in original post and i just got my tax refund deposited. My current mobo is shot so i been down a pc for 3 weeks. Hope i didnt rush into this. I spent more then i wanted but i added on a new laptop for wife to help hide what i actually spent.

Intel motherboards offer little to no overclocking options. I would recommend staying away from them, and looking into Asus, Gigabyte, or MSI.
