How to completely uninstall CCC and Drivers?

Thread Starter
I installed the new ATI 11.1 drivers and got a display driver crash. So I rolled back to 10.12 via Device Manager.

Well after about a day I just again got a display driver crash after attempting to load a YouTube video.

I'm assuming this is happening hopefully from some sort of conflict between the 10.12 drivers and the 11.1 drivers.

So would uninstalling CCC and then re-installing 11.1 fix it? Or Would I have to use Driver Sweeper.

It depends upon your luck. There are people who go through their entire life without suffering the catalyst crysis, and some suffer massive hair-loss till they look like Homer Simpson. Anyway, since you have already suffered a crash, do the following.....
uninstall normally.... go to safe mode and use driver sweeper and the restart and install again. See if the issues get solved or not.

Driver sweeper caused me loads of problems installing ati drivers, not sure what the solution is, but hopefully there is a better one that driver sweeper. I also got a crash during youtube loading.

Thanks for the responses guys, I actually ended up figuring it out for myself.. But thanks again.

It's a shame too, I had 10.12 installed for a long time and had no crashes, installed 11.1 and after a few hours of gameplay had display driver crashes ._.

Here's what I did.

1. Downloaded Driver Sweeper.

2. Restarted, booted into safe mode.

3. Uninstalled the 5850 driver+software from Device Manager since it wouldn't let me via Control Panel add/remove programs.

4. Used Driver Sweeper to clean what was left of ATI.

5. Restart, booted into normal mode and installed the 11.1a hotfix drivers instead of 11.1 official.

6. Restarted and all is hopefully well.....

Here's what the software information according to CCC now lists:

Driver Packaging Version8.82.2-110112a-111972E-ATI
ProviderATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version8.01.01.1123
2D Driver File Path/REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version7.14.10.0812
OpenGL Version6.14.10.10516
Catalyst Control Center Version2011.0112.2221.40058

Driver sweeper almost always causes trouble. Heck I would say even most of the ATi driver problems on OCN are directly caused by it. Hopefully you get lucky.

Thanks. Hopefully I won't see any of those display driver crashes anymore. If I do, where would I go and grab the official 10.12 drivers? I couldn't seem to find a place to download previous versions of official drivers.

There is a previous drivers section on the AMD site here
