Hey There Guys,

*NOTE* If this thread is in the wrong section or needs to split up (hope not) then I am sorry for breaking rules

I have been putting up threads everywhere about all my different problems and questions I am having and guys keep on asking questions which have been answered in other threads so I have made one "Super Thread"

Could I please ask guys that are going to make suggestion to put what number problem they addressing so I can keep track

I am Going to list all my problems and address them one by one:

1) 6gb of RAM installed but only detecting 4gb (attached a picture of my CPU socket encase of bent pins)

2) What are the max voltages I should use and by how long will this decrease the life of my components?

3) Could someone explain the effects of running the PCIE lane faster than 100

4) What temps should I get at stock settings with my Water cooling loop? (ambient 26C-32C)

5) What is the highest voltage for a Asus 5870 V@ for 24/7?

6) How to determine if I have mounted my EK HF Supreme properly

I'm am sure that some of the suggestions that are going to be made I would have tried but I am more than willing to try them again

I will edit this thread if there are any more issues that I need to be answered

Really big thanks guys

Well, now that cards are getting higher power phases and such, it's not as necessary to rise the PCI-E Clock. I believe it mainly provides stability to the amount of power going through the slot but since cards now rely more on external power(the 6 and 8 pins) it doesn't do much in raising it.

1) Do you have a 64bit Operating System? If so, have you enabled the Hardware Memory Hole in BIOS?

2) Max safe voltage for the CPU is usually 1.36 - 1.45v. Depends on how gutsy you are. For RAM, I usually use 0.1v overvolt at most. Some people go higher, it depends on the individual RAM chips on your sticks.

3) The PCIe lanes running faster than 100Mhz can cause damage to your GPU. Don't do it.

4) You should get near ambient temperatures at idle. Load temps, depends on the amount of voltage you use.

5) I want to say the 5870 can take up to 1.35v on air safely, but don't quote me on that. Just give it as much voltage as you need to give it, while keeping load temperatures I'd say under 80*C (for stability reasons). The lower the temperature, the more stable it will be.

6) You can easily determine if your waterblock is mounted correctly by loading a simple stress test. If your temperatures are good, its mounted correctly. If your temperatures suck...then its not right.

In regards to your broken CPU pin, I'm posting a link of Linus from NCIX repairing a broken CPU pin. It's pretty interesting to watch, but it's a gamble. I wasn't sure whether or not your bios is detecting your CPU or not, but if it's not, this methodology is pretty interesting.

Hi There

Thanks for the responses so far,

1) Okay first off I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and sometimes I detect 6gig but other I detect 4gig. The fix that works for most people is resetting the CPU socket and/or a bent pin that needs to bent back.

I have also tried to see if it is a cold boot issue and it is not (I ran prime and LinX and then did a reboot and nothing, but 2 reboot later I got 6gb again and then nothing the next time

I have got a friend that has a nice big magnifying glass that I can borrow and I will take some pics and try and bend pin again

I will also try each stick of RAM one by one to see if the system picks up all 2gig sticks

I put a pic in there to show you guys what pic was bent (in my eye) and I bent it back. Can you tell me if that pin touches the IMC on the CPU and if it is still bent?

Could someone tell if that pin touched the IMC controller of the i7? If not then it wont contrabute to RAM issue shurly?

Also I have had the same prob on my first Rampage 3 Extreme that was giving me problems

Could it be the actual IMC that is not strong enough to support 6gigs? If so can I RMA my CPU?

2) With my Water cooling I get a delta T of about 10C at stock settings and of about 22C at 4ghz. If I relate that to overall temps I am talking about 40C at stock and about 53C at 4Ghz with 1.25vcore

I am also using mx-2 at the moment because I am waiting for my AS5 to arrive and I am running my fans on my radiator at 60%

Once again thanks guys,

Mikrouwel
