I'd say don't mess around with it until you get it settled.

Did you talk to Newegg yet?

i would call newegg as soon as possible. i would request an rma number. its rediculous that they would let this happen. i know people make mistakes, but a $365 board better work, with ALL its features and that includes the programs it came with. i would be very upset about this if it were me to say the least.

So you are complaining about a copy of vantage.....

Really, stuff happens, boxes get mixed up.

If the vantage key really boothers you, call up asus, and they will probably give you A new one.

I opened the package and checked out the CPU socket, no bent pins. I looked a little closer and I saw finger prints on the FPCaps and also the CMOS battery. These were very noticeable fingerprints, that rubbed off after I touched it. I think I left one of the FPCAPS untouched so it still has the fingerprint of the original person who touched it.

So I asked around about these finger prints and on the ASUS ROG forum they told me finger prints happen sometimes from factory workers who work on the motherboard. So I let that whole "finger print incident" go

Today I tried installing 3d Mark Vantage (which is a software that comes with this board) but the serial key was no valid. I tried many many times with different combination of 0's and O's and also all caps but still no luck

So then I got this crazy idea that maybe this motherboard isnt new. So I opened up my case to check the serial number on the motherboard (a 12 digit serial number located on the 24 pin connector). I matched this 12 digit serial to the 12 digit serial number on the box and guess what, they dont match at all. They are two completely different serial numbers.

What do you guys think? Have I been sold a used board?? I paid $365 for this motherboard and I cannot just let this slide
The serial numbers on my 3 POS Asus P67 Pro boards didn't match the serial numbers on the box too. I don't think it means it was used.

Call and get this sorted. They need to replace it for you. The serial numbers need to match. For some RMA processes they need to be the same. Mix ups happen. Good luck.

Then why's it swapped? The packer is supposed to grab the virgin box and the stuff on the inside is supposed to match what's on the outside. End of story. The fact that they don't match means the board was taken out of it's box and put into another and sold. The obvious is obvious. Something is fishy when stuff is swapped around.

Btw, them Asus boards are notorious for bugs so I'm they've been swapping crap boards to unsuspecting customer for a while.

Uh-oh. Newegg will not let you RMA if their serial number they sent you doesn't match the one you're returning. In fact, I had a similar incident with a graphics card:

Bought it, got it, it was artifacting up a storm. RMA'd....and they told me it didn't have a SN and was being returned. So I got the card back, and there's a SN right on the PCB. Took a photo of it and finally convinced them (3 tries) to let me get my money back. I think you might have a similar experience. TAKE PHOTOS and you should get it replaced, heck might want to try ASUS RMA service first.

Hey guys,

I gave Newegg all the information (mobo serial, box serial, UPC code, part number, etc.). Newegg contacted me back yesterday and it turns out there was an error on their part. So they are issuing me a full refund for the motherboard (no restocking fee and free shipping label). Hopefully my next one will be new

After seeing how they took care of the situation so quickly, I will always buy from Newegg.
