Finished My SB build

Thread Starter
So I have put together my build for my new Sandy Bridge 2600k. I have to say these forums have been a huge help in picking parts, findout out what some options are and seeing the creativity others have in their builds.

I love the 800D case. I was able to run tubing through the wiring grommets up the back side of the case for a cleaner run. You can see the tubing disappear in the bottom where the quick disconnect is and reappear at the top of the case and hook into the rad. Love this case and the options you have.

Let me know what you think of this build, what you would change. The only mod I really made was to the XSPC Dual Bay reservoir. The inlet tube from the rad which ends about 2mm from the pump intake was really making the res hard to use. Bleeding was a pain as air never had the chance to escape and was sucked into the pump immediately, even on lower settings. I took a dremel and a cutting wheel and took care of that inlet tube inside the res. Got a clean cut and now the pump intake doesn't suck the air while bleeding. Bleeding the system went from hours and hours to about 5 min.

My part list:
Corsair Obsidian 800D case
Hardware Labs 360 SR1 radiator
Swiftech Apogee XT waterblock
Swiftech MCP665 pump
Swiftech Komodo 5800 VGA block
XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25” Reservoir for Laing D5
Bitspower 1/2" compression fittings
Koolance 19S VL3N quick disconnect
White primochill tubing 1/2 ID 3/4 OD
Scythe "KAZE MASTER ACE " 5.25" Bay Fan Controller
3x Scyth Gentle Typhoon fans

CPU Parts:
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe 1155 Motherboard
Intel 2600k I7 running at 4.9Ghz 24/7. 5.0Ghz benchmarked
Gskill Ripsaw 1600Mhz CL8 Ram
Intel X25M G2 160GB SSD
WD 500GB Secondary Drive
XFX 5870 1GB Video Card

Hey! Nice looking build! I'm curious about something, I've heard some people saying they have a hard time wiring their PSUs in the corsair 800D due to the case being so big, is that statement valid?

I bought all black sleeved extention cables for the 8pin motherboard cable, the 24 pin PSU cable and the two 6 pin Video card cables. The 8 pin motherboard cable would never ever reach without an extention, the others reach (on my psu) but can be a little tight.

Ah, okay! Thanks for the info, huge fan of that case! And that really is a nice cooling set up you have going

Thanks for the comments. I'm pretty happy with the case and cpu.

One note that I don't like on the 800D are the locking sliders for the 5.25" bays. I found I couldn't secure and tighten down the Dual Bay res as easy as I wanted. With a pump mounted in the res bay it would have been nice if the XSPC bay would have had screw holes for the alternate screw mounts.

Just something to note if you planning this case with XSPC reservoirs. (at least the dual bay D5 reservoir)
