[SOLVED] Biostar 890FX OC Help

Thread Starter
Ok this is a question regarding the Biostar 890FX Bios layout.. I am quite confused since there are two area to change voltage.. Both in the "Overvolt Menu" and "CPU VID/FID" If I am to change to NB not the CPU-NB fequency and voltage what menu should I use?

Here is a picture of the Bios *NOTE* I found this picture on google, this isn't a picture I took cause I don't have a camera, but its the same Bios layout as mine so who cares lol...

*EDIT* I just woke up sorry about posting this in the CPU section lol.

only use over voltage for nb/dram voltage

change cpu-nb and vcore from FID/VID control

and changing northbridge frequency is in FID/VID? I am trying to get use to the Biostar Bios, I am just to use to ASUS ^_^

One of the confusing things is you have to change NB, there is no CPU-NB like on most boards, but NB is the CPU-NB.

He's right about the voltage though. The over voltage is not good for cpu or cpu-nb volts cuz the lowest seting is .05! If you set voltage at 1.45v and set over voltage to .05 it shoots up past 1.51 to 1.52!

cpu-nb voltage is in FID/VID, right next to nb freq

nb voltage is in over voltage

i don't see any issue using the overvoltage tab for cpu-nb. just keep in mind the TOTAL figure and you're straight. the downside, as someone mentioned, is that the intervals in the overvoltage tab, go up in rather large chunks (except memory).

for cpu-nb i currently have +0.05 coming from the overvoltage tab and 1.2X from the other tab, for a total of 1.33volts for cpu-nb, which is fine. there is nothing wrong with the overvoltage tab.

also, there are two areas of confusion: cpu-nb and just nb. you do not need to adjust the nb tab really. cpu-nb is what really counts. people generally get the northbridge overclocked to 2400-3000mhz using 1.33-1.35 volts in cpu-nb. don't forget that you can set your northbridge multiplier by lowering your northbridge frequency in the bios. it in effect acts as a multiplier although you will see no multiplier in the bios... i hope i'm not confusing you...
