Computer not turning on

So one day it just wouldn't turn on, instead i hear a power surge noise from the power supply than shuts down. When i pull my 8800 gt video card out and put in a older radeon x1550 ( less power consumption) the computer boots fine. So is it my card or the power supply?? up until now the power supply has been powering this rig for the last year.

Are you able to test the card in another rig? It does sound like a PSU problem though, it may have developed a fault.
