922 and watercooling setup.

Thread Starter
This is a simple wc-setup i build for my friend some time ago.
He bought a Haf 922, Gigabyte udr3, i7-950, Gtx 570 and Ek 240mm wc kit.
Block for gtx is coming soon.

There only 18mm space between the rad and ram, so i had to put the yate loons at the top of the case pushing air inside through the rad. Temps are fine thought, even that it's oc'd to 4.2Ghz with 1.31v

I was wondering after installing the gtx to the loop, i should add a 120mm rad after the cpu? So far i've seen several ppl say that 240mm rad should be enough for cpu+gpu loop..
But he was planning to get another 570 later on and wc it too.. so, would a 240+120mm rad be enough or should there be another 240mm rad?

For the 240mm at the roof, would there be any use to install ultra slim fans for a push/pull setup? I haven't been able to find any other than scythe ultra slim 120mm fans and they are pretty low on cfm.. they're 12mm thick.

A 240 + a 120 should be able to handle the load, but I am not really sure as to the deltas. You may loose a bit of performance from the loop with that. I ran a 965 BE and a 5850 using the same config for a while and the loop was not saturated. But in this case the components put out more heat.

adding 120 will definetly help especially if you are overclocking.
also about slim fans, well you if can find them, change the top ones to slim ones too.
and use the current 2 for 120.

Those Yate Loons at the roof have 77cfm airflow.. and those slims have only 19-20cfm.
So i wonder if they are powerful enough to push air as the roof grill is also between the fans and rad, if i change the top fans to slims too?

How about the future addon for another 570? 240+120 or 240+240?

240+120 could be used as internal, but for another 240mm rad, it should be installed external because the lack of space
I guess buying another 240 rad would be more future wise..?

Pump is ek-dcp 4.0, would it be enough for a loop with 2x240, Cpu & 2xGpu blocks?
It's beginning to sound a bit too much for me..

I never should have told him to go under water, but it still is fun

240 can handle CPU+GPU but with high speed fan push pull. If he wants a quite system then get another 120.
