[TC] Five Reasons The PSP2 Won’t Succeed - Page 2

Sony is bringing their home console to the handheld level. I guess that they are viewing the argument that you are going to be playing AAA titles that would look better on the big screen, but on the tiny 5" screen on the PSP2. It makes sense, why wouldn't you rather play a game on a big screen?

However, this is where I see their argument at fault, ultimately, even though Sony is bringing their home console to the handheld market, it is still a handheld, so it will still be competing with the other handhelds on the market, except being able to also offer some BIG NAME titles, while all Nintendo will have is gimmicky games (for the most part, which follows the same path as their other handhelds).

Ultimately it is up to the consumer to determine the life of a product, whether consumers will buy into the product or not, and then whether or not the producer of the product will be able to supply the product, produce good games for it, and be able to make it into a successful product which the consumer will want to purchase.

It's not about Horsepower any more folks.
How can you say such things on an overclocking website?

That is Sony's problem. DS/iOS/Android have a huge competitive advantage over the mobile market. Sony's features are competing against full-fledged consoles/PC's.
This isn't meant to be played while your on your couch in your home, although you could, but while your out of the home. I've logged about 90 hours into Dissidia: Final Fantasy on the PSP.

Sony has the chance to be very competitive with iOS/Andriod because the right infrastructure is already in place. The device has 3G and Wifi and PSN is full of robust PSOne classics, PSN titles, and $2 Minis.

The only problem I see is that this is a device aimed directly at gamers. People who aren't gamers bought their iPhone and Android phones, saw that they had games, and became casual gamers.

It's not going to win against iOS and Android, but it does have a chance to play ball with them.

It should be a huge success with those who want a big budget gaming experience in the palm of their hands. In fact I'm surprised by anyone in this forum who's against the idea of the NGP. So many here go out of their way just to foam at the mouth about how PC gaming is better then console gaming because of better controls and graphics. That's what the NGP is going to give you in the mobile space. ...But who am I kidding? Since PC gaming is a dying breed maybe the NGP is doomed.

I think its going to be awesome to finally beable to properly impletment FPS on hand held gaming. I couldnt for the life of me understand why the original psp had only one joystick.

If something as worthless as an iPad is successful I cant understand why this wont be. Its atleast useful.
