IBT (intel burn test) question!

Thread Starter
Hi there.

So I downloaded and ran IBT.

I've seen a few screenshots where people have like times 20second and up to perhaps 60 seconds.

However, I just started my IBT and my first time was 278 seconds! Isn't this extremely high and mega slow? The second time stamp was 277 seconds. The test isn't even done yet.

I'm new to this stability app and therefore I'm asking.

Hope you can help me out!

Thanks in advance.

Mine averages at about 100 seconds on 3.5Ghz. Don't know about yours tho. Maybe because it has 6 cores

AFAIK it depends on the amount of memory and of course the speed of the processor. when I test on max memory it takes around a minute or so, but that's just cuz I don't have.. say, 8 Gigs of RAM or a Core 2 Duo processor.
Don't take my word for certain, I can be completely wrong.

Thank you.

I tried usinb IBT with 1gb ram instead of 8gb, and now my time was 15seconds ;p.

I believe ammount of RAM is the bad guy here!

Do I have to run at 8GB if I wanna test the CPU or is 1GB enough? So much faster

Running at max memory is essential for maximum stability checking. I'd do that if I were you, even though standard is ok for quick testing too.

Read this lovely guide here http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...test-linx.html, especially the part suggesting this:

-In task manager-performance tab, check the amount of FREE PHYSICAL MEMORY & use a bit less(200-300mb less)

You might be testing your virtual ram which might be extending your passes.
