2600k and bigadv 2685 @ 4.7Ghz - Page 3

Dude! Everything thats posted on the internet, especially when referring to unreleased hardware is always 100% correct right?

Most recent news story I could find, which says anything about performance states the exact 50% performance improvement number we've all heard.. Except it says when compared to a 900 series i7. So how hard is it to double the speed of a stock clocked 920? Not that difficult.

Performance wise, an eight-core Bulldozer processor is expected to be, on average, 50% faster than a Core i7 900-series CPU.

Once again, I'll believe it when I see it. For now, rumors are just that.. Rumors

Nope.. don't think so. Your post said it was 50% faster than sandy bridge. That news story claims it is 50% faster than a 900 series i7. Big difference in that comparison in my opinion.

On that note, I'll discontinue hijacking OP's thread.

The bad news that my chip hates me and needs a nuclear reactor to go past 4.7Ghz. I just upped the vcore a bit and running Prime95 blend to make sure that is fine @ 4.7Ghz. As soon as Im sure is stable Ill run my cpu by it self and get some #s for the data base with that 2685 bigadv.
There's a 2600k thread here on OCN somewhere that talks about needing to lower a voltage to get past the 4.6/4.7GHz wall ... and also means less cpu volts. Sorry, I don't have one (I think I'll holdout for BD) so I don't know where it is.

After tweaking my system for a stable clock I left it at 4.6Ghz 1.4v. Looks like is I didnt get a golden chip and the Asus WS Revolution is not the best overclocker of all. This is what I got with a 2685 unit with no fermi cards running. I will post with 3 cards running a bit later.

Temps are not the problem, stability is. I got everything on auto exept volts, multi, and C1E. I guess Im a complete noob with this new bios settings cause every time I try to go pass 47 I get restarts and bsod.

If your talking in the second screenshot, with the GPU's going also, my guess is that you stopped the CPU client for a bit and then started it back up?

I *think* what's happening, is HFM calculates the PPD based on the credit, which takes into account total time to complete the wu. Every time you stop the client you are loosing time, therefore the bonus points you will receive will be lower.

I suspect the GPU tracker program is calculating PPD strictly based off your time per frame, and the value assumes the work unit is being folded non stop even though you paused it for a little while.

That would explain why HFM is reporting lower than the tracker. I know HFM does calculate it this way, however I have no experience with the tracker utility so that is a guess but makes sense to me if thats how it works. If my assumptions are correct, HFM is a much better indicator of your current output.
