ahhh fudge biscuits: P6N + Q8300 = fail - Page 2

The GA-EP45-UD3 boards are the best overclockers for C2Q's, hands down. Second place would go to either the Rampage Extreme (1), or the P5Q Pro.
But to be fair, I think your CPU will max out before any of those three boards will. Q8300's aren't renowned for OCing, so unless you've either got a chip with extremely low voltage, or liquid cooling, it'll get too hot very quickly.

Anadelite - I'm looking to spend as little money as possible. I'd have to buy new ram if I got an i series.

I can't use DDR3 mobos can I? I have DDR2 ram.

Ok so I found a few cheap optons.

1) ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i (open box) for $65.
2) Gigabyte Core 2 Quad/Intel P43/DDR2-1200/A&GbE/ATX Motherboard GA-P43-ES3G for $75

Would either of these boards allow me to overlock the Q8300 a little (to 3ghz)?

cheers.

EDIT:

Found a guy selling a GA-EP45-UD3 + Xigmatek HDT-1283 cooler for $95. Seem like a good deal?
