Putting arch on my netbook. Need a lightweight DE/WM - Page 3

Really TFB? I think you know better than most of the replies you'd expect to get from this kind of thread.

It depends on what you prefer. I tend to dislike the touchpads on laptops/netbooks, so I like using them as little as possible, so I never use *box. I prefer tilers on almost everything. I'd suggest awesome, dwm, subtle, or xmonad if you want to take the tiler route. If you want a whole DE go xfce or lxde, but I'm pretty sure you knew that already.

I'm honestly not all that familiar with WMs. Desktop environments, yeah, but not WMs.

I tried fluxbox and I wasn't all that happy. It didn't really cut much from my CPU usage.

XFCE is reporting 7h11m remaining from a full charge. Something isn't right lol

If you can manage XFCE then go with LXDE, it's reasonably smaller and more leight weight but not that unfunctional (yes, I just used unfunctional to mean lack of function).

You'd be surprised, you really don't get too much of a battery difference between distros (is what I've noticed).

Install powertop and checkout some hints on lesswatts.org to try to get the best battery life. Besides that, I've actually found that the Windows install that came on my "nettop" to get the best battery life.

Up for tiling? I'm using WMFS and it is pretty sweet.
