Some of that may be the case. However, much of the life I am referring to has no food outside of geological sources and is well out of reach of tidal effects.

Length of a day hasn't always been the same.

Around the time when Earth formed it was only about 4-6 hours. The moon has been slowing down earths rotation ever since it was formed (though as the moon is moving further away the effects have lessened considerably over time). I'm not sure how long a day was when life first evolved. Anyway, it certainly seems to have changed slowly enough for natural selection to keep pace.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but nobody has found our biological clock--not for sure, anyway. They've simply discovered a molecule that fluctuates in concordance with the time of day. We, however, do not know if this molecule works independently of other cellular mechanism, nor do we know if this molecule is dependent only on the time of day (or whatever it's dependent on), or if it runs autonomously.

Further research needs to be done.
