Don't be, it's long gone and not in active duty anymore lol. My current chip is the one hurting feelings now.

I said my ambients were high there. They are much lower and the chip doesn't break 65°C at all anymore. I think my temps are good enough to go further. Just got home now. I think i will try pushing further here quick.

LLC is on i think. Meaning that the voltage stays the same with load and on idle. The voltage stays at 1.216 under load and idle.

Any tips for hitting 4.2?

Set everything in BIOS manually, no auto settings.

Push the Vcore up to at least 1.3v+ for now and then bring it back once you find it to be stable.

there is also a ton of guides on here(and across the internets) to I am not going to waste a ton of time telling you every detail

Yeah, i've already got everything set to manual. I guess i can try startin at like 1.35 with 4.2 and see what i can get.

Well then you are on the right track, just time to start tweaking.

The other item that can hold back a CPU is memory

and with 1600 memory you will not want to go passed 4.2 if you don't want to OC your memory, if you are ok with OCing your memory then you could go higher.

Not true in the least. I oc'd my old 920 to 4.6ghz and ram was running LESS than 1600mhz. Just a simple reduction in the memory multiplier on the mobo solves that issue.

oh course..... BUT WHY!!!?!?!?!!?!??!!?!?

so you OC your CPU and then bottleneck the RAM? Do you notice anything doing that or is it just for show at that point?

So I don't agree with it and I am not going to go around telling people that.

Excuse my ignorance otherwise

My plan is to get 2000 RAM and once my water block is on my CPU put it @ 4.5Ghz+.

Golden? my 3849B does 4.2 HT on at 1.28

I only run it at 3.8 24/7 to keep my rig as quiet as ambient noise

Before people question the 1.18v in my sig, the BIOS I'm using with my Bloodrage won't let me undervolt past that.

Anyways, here's my OC results. 4.0ghz stable at 1.216 v core. I have ran 50 runs of IBT stable, and folded -bigadv''s for a good 2 weeks so i'd say she's stable

Also, my ambients were pretty hot there. Temp's are between 60C and 65C while folding -bigadv's.

Might try 4.2ghz @ 1.28v HT On...... if temps are still under control might try 4.3ghz HT On with 1.328v... ?
My i7 920 seems to be a good clocker but not sure about golden. batch 3912b
