Artifacting 460?

Thread Starter
my 460 is artifacting (or whatever it is) showing weird coloured sun glares and black shapes in heaven when i put my clock past 900? it scared me because the temps shot up, then the card itself starting making weird noises so i shut it down immediately. It dosent do this when i run it at stock? all i need to know is...
  • Why is my card crapping out when hitting 900? ive seen the normal asus 460 directcu do 940-1000?
  • once i see my card artifacting does it do permenant damage? should i take it back (3 months old :/)
  • what actually is artifacting and what does it actually do and why is it there
  • do you think i possibly damaged anything when overclocking my card and it artifacted* and reset the display?

Thanks

i understand that, but i still dont get why the underclocked version of mine is beating my top model with flying colours :/

and when you see artifacting on a card, does that automatically mean that its permanently damaged, or does it go away? does it damage anything on the actual card if i see it or what i dont fully get what it is?

u see artifacts when the card isnt stable. turn clocks down or increase voltage.

do they cause any perma damage to the card?
and i can safely whack the voltage up to max on a 460 cant i?
I was having problems with my 460 recently as well. I installed the latest drivers and everything went back to normal.

you just assumed your card would hit 900?? MANY 460's dont reach 900
