That doesn't sound normal. It should be like 45 with it off and 40 with it on. It never reduced my FPS that much. o__O

False advertising. BOTH of those numbers are LIES made up by monitor manufacturers around the world. Your true contrast ratio is somewhere in between 1000 and 2000

I disable vsync because it introduces mouse lag.

Not true, I've been using my 120hz monitor for a few months now, there's no noticable difference between 60fps and 120fps.

So i guess the new question is. Is vsync worth having on or off. with a badass setup but a not so great old. video card that i have on a 9 percent boost stable.

Only you can decide that.

If you have no tearing in game, leave it off. If you do have tearing, and you can run VSYNC without dropping to unplayable levels, turn it on.

lol!

Just because you can't see doesn't mean that nobody can. I definitely see it, and so do lots of people around the world.

What's your 20/?? ?

Anyhow, some people can't see it. Some people can. It's that simple. But don't go around assuming that nobody else can do what you can't. That's just silly.

It's opinion. I don't find it worth it with FPS games. I turn it on in other games. You may prefer it on. Experiment, it's your decision.

the tearing im talking of is heaven benchmark v2.1 it tears a little.. and it bugs me.. is the over clock boost cause more tearing or does OC help prevent>? OCed vsync on i get a 530 score an average of like 20 with it off i get a score of 631 and fps of 29.0 but tearing is visible.

This is wrong!

I read a study by the USAF that was about pilot eye response rate. The USAF found that an average USAF 'student'(not a trained and graduated pilot) can identify a plane in 1/230th a second. That's 230Hz! This study was done by simply flashing a video object at the pilot with the pilot unaware of what the object was going to be, at a speed of 1/230th a second.

So 1/230th of a second, or 230Hz, is visible to the eye 'when concentrating'. The "eye-cells"(not to be confused with the retin)stop seeing the flicker in images around 100Hz(or 1/100th a second). The further down you go in Hz frequency, they easier the eye-cells pick up the flicker of the transitioning frame.

Hope this helps. Because saying the eye cannot tell the difference over 60Hz is a false statement!

At 120Hz, things look fluid, at 60Hz objects flicker!
