Cheapest way for triple screens?

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I'm wondering if any of the low end cards can be paired up for triple or quad screens. This will be used on a stock trading machine so no need for much horsepower. We want to go 1920x1080 on each screen, none of the 5760x1080 stuff is needed.

I have experience with higher end nvidia and ati cards for multi monitor support, but nothing with the lower end cards. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ATI 5770. About $100 and still strong enough to power video etc.

According to the AMD web page

"AMD Eyefinity technology is supported by graphics cards in the ATI Radeon™ HD 5400 series and higher"

I know with the eyefinity setup you need to have "active" display port adapter (or monitor), do you guys know if any of the 5770's come with one?

And thanks for the quick responses!!

dear everyone above me: did you not read the op? he wants to know if inexpensive cards can be paired up for more monitors. the answer is yes.

anything anywhere near recent will be able to do 2 monitors at 1920x1080, however anything that isn't eyefinity or 2 gpus on a card will only be able to do 2 monitors per card, but 2 cheapo cards is a lot cheaper than an eyefinity card. if you can put the card in the system you can use it for additional monitors. at one point i had 2 monitors on a 4850 and one on a 9600gt, worked fine. just install the drivers and you're set.

ah lol my bad..

yeah 4 monitors? buy 2 cheap cards. ( mod 1 into pci x1 slot with 1 of these ) carnt find them now but u can get ones that just raise it like 2cm. so still fits in the normal pci slot.

or u could cut the back off ur motherboards pci x1 slot.
or cut the cheapo card down to pcix1.
proven to work through a few threads ect :]
