Best cooler for a AMD athlon II X2 240

Thread Starter
Hi everyone I am going to start off saying I am new with overclocking but I do know my way around a computer. My question is what wold best cooler for a AMD Athlon II X2 240 and I do plan on overclocking the cpu. I also had a few coolers in mind the Thermaltake Frio, Cooler Master V6 or V8. If anybody has any better ones in mind that would be great also. I will also have questions about the best ways to overclock my cpu, but I need a cooler first. I have listed my rig below if this will help.

Heres my Rig :
Thermaltake V5 Case
Asus M4A785-M Mobo
Thermaltake ToughPower750watt psu
AMD Athlon II X2 240
Evga Geforce 9400 Gt (replacing soon)
Crucial Ballistix PC-6400 2 sticks of 2Gbs a peace

How much were you planning to overclock?

I ask because I know an Athlon II X2 240 will do 3500mhz on stock voltages on an Biostar 880g+ motherboard with G Skill Value Ram at 1666 with the NB @ 2500mhz while on the stock cooler. 41hr prime stable.

If you are going to try to reach 4ghz then a cooler master 212+ will be way more than enough.

I really like both the Thermaltake Frio and The Cooler master V6 GT though.

Real nice cooler for the price, but I think it might be a little to big I will have do the math to see if it will fit.

its a good price / performance

its pretty quite

It fits almost any CPU

and can cool a six core.

So if you buy it you might not need to buy another cooler for a long time.
