Thread Starter
I have a couple previous posts when i was trying to decide between intel and AMD with a 1500 budget. wondering if i should swap out the 955BE with 965BE
please critique

AMD Build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=13330891

Intel Build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=13330431

Yes I know this is AMD portion but cant any real responses. Want to know because im buying sometime next week. Thanks in advance
post #2 of 10
Do you need Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor or is that 1500 for the PC itself?

EDIT: Also, what will this PC be used for? Do you have any specific needs/wants, and any particular brand preferances?

intel build looks good but i would swap couple of things
Mobo+8GB 1600 Mhz ram 250$ AR
GTX 570 315$ AR (alot more horsepower then hd 6950 nearly for same price plus intel still likes SLIs )
CPU Cooler 35$
DVD|RW 16$ free shipping

Case2 100$
Case3 100$

Honestly for that kind of money you would be better off with the intel build.

I've heard great things about the Sandy Bridge and If i were to build a brand new computer I would go with the Intel side of things. Both builds look excellent - only thing I would possibly change would be get a nvidia gtx 570, but I'm a folder so :-p

Also if you choose the AMD build unless you're planning on getting enough video cards to fill those slots I would just go with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-402-_-Product
Cheaper and will do the same job.

RabbitGT - nice find on the motherboard combo! I would go with the Hyper 212+ though instead of the dual 92mm fan cooler. More options to change out fans depending on the noise levels the OP may want later on.

Lancool K62: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-239-_-Product
I have a Lancool and it's quite nice for the budget.

sounds good, I kinda want to stick with the Full tower just for future upgrading if i decide to down the road in a couple years.
Not enough graphics card and PSU for either build. In the future, you won't be able to drop in a second or third card if you wanted. I'd suggest going with the 6950's for graphics cards that do not afraid of ANYTHING, not even 16xAA at 1080p. You could also possibly unlock them to 6970's. If you MUST build at this instant...go with Sandybridge.. We at AMD currently have no winning offer for you in terms of price to performance for your presented budget of $1500....but...

YOU SHOULD WAIT FOR BULLDOZER. THIS IS THE YEAR; OUR YEAR WE BRING THE RAIN ON INTEL ONCE AGAIN.

I'd take out the SSD. it's just to make you zip around Windows and load your games faster. Glad to see you picked Crucial though; love their RAM.

Then I'd get the Antec TPQ 1200 for more juice. YES it is pricey, but it is very fustrating to have to pay more money all over again just to add another graphics card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371032

I would advise against the GTX 570s because of their shortage on VRAM. Once you start pushing 4 or more samples of AA on the more demanding games @1080p or higher everything goes out the window.

If you don't care about AA, then never mind; you can go with the 570's
