Just finished my first build. Got a few problems.

Hey guys,

I just finished my first ever build and everything went pretty smoothly. I installe windows 7 on my c300 SSD. The problems I'm having:

1.) I have an HDD (f3) that's not showing up as a storage device. It's showing up under my hardware and everything, but not as an option to save anything to.

2.) My HP monitor (z24w) is supposed to support 1920x1200 resolution, but the highest option in windows 7 is 1600x1200.

Just FYI I haven't installed and driver yet so maybe that's the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to format your drive, if you're using Windows use NTFS.

Could you expand on how to do that. Sorry I'm still new to this.

Format that HDD in ntfs/fat32. Install your video drivers, they adjust it to be just right for your screen. (usually)
Howto format in Win7:
Start button-->Computer-->Click on your empty HDD with your right mouse button and select format-->Select ntfs and if you don't want to wait forever, select quick format-->Ok button.

The 1600x1200 is because you haven't installed your Video Card drivers yet.

man im still using xp and i forget how to check it in W7 but:

Right click my computer>manage

should show u all ur drives, on the storage tab/section, and u should be able to right click and format it to NTFS.

I think its still done that way on W7.

If u can see it in MyComputer then just right click and reformat.

as for the Resolution, what kind of cable are u using to connect to the monitor. W7 usually installs the newest drivers once it connects to the net no?
