always always when running first post, only plug in as few necessary items (1 stick ram, keyboard, and monitor) check for post.
then slowly add 1 stick of ram at a time or swap matched pairs. test for post.

-you have to expect something new will be DOA, until proven working.
-always keep a secondary machine to test everything with a swap out.
-mobo plug in speaker is your best friend for feedback.
-run things on cardboard when all else fails

keep things simple and you will always succeed, try all at once and you will be back at step one.
