Can't Overclock ASRock EXTREME6 & i7 950

Thread Starter
The BIOS settings I'm trying are in the pictures. As soon as I boot up, I get an immediate blue screen of death and Windows never even boots up.

Can anyone recommend what I should change the settings to?

Thanks.

don`t know the vid of your cpu,but i would try some more v-core;start with ~1,35 v .

what about v -dimm 1,55 v or softer timings?

@JohnnyGalaga

To low VTT voltage for 3200MHz Uncore Frequency, try ~1,35.

Possible to low DRAM voltage also, try higher VTT voltage first.

What is "vid" of the CPU? I'll give you more screenshots, but I'm not sure which setting that is. Same thing with "v -dimm." I'm not sure what that is. And what does "softer timings" refer to?

Thanks.

Well, I tried bumping up the VTT voltage like you guys said, and it worked! Finally. This is the first time I've been able to get an overclock. thumb.gifapplaud.gifthumbsupsmiley.png I just never could figure out what to do.

I ran Prime95 for about an hour with no problems (image attached) and now I'm wondering if I might have room to do a little better than 3.6 GHz. devil-smiley-019.gif

of course there is still room ahead, you do not even touched v core that much-3,8-4 ghz does every core i7.

simply raise bclk step by step ,run prime and check the temps.

What is "v-core?" I don't see any setting called that. Everytime I increase the BCLK, it also automatically increases the DRAM Frequency. My memory is 1600 MHz, but if increasing BCLK makes the DRAM Frequency over that, is that a problem?

did you ever read an x 58 oc guide?

v core is cpu voltage.of course you should stay within your ram specs,if you cannot go above 1600,you have to use an other ram divider.if you are glad with your current setting, stick with it.

otherwise testing & tweaking.

The big problem I have with all the overclocking guides is that none of the terminology is the same as what I see in the BIOS screens. "V Core" versus "CPU Voltage" is just one example. All the terms in the guides you see online are different than what you see in the actual screens. So there's no way to figure anything out.
