MBR Problem - Help Pls.

Thread Starter
Tonight i bought a pair of Corsair XMS3 DDR3 RAM after coming back home and installing the ram, i tried booting into windows and came up with an MBR Error 1, i followed that up by booting into the windows 7(x64) dvd and tried to repair but didn't work, i tried a couple more times but instead through the command console using both bootsect and bootrec, and that still hasn't done anything.

now every time i try to boot into windows instead of giving me the mbr error 1 it tells me i have to have the boot cd inside.

i have a hirens boot cd and through that im able to log into my windows 7 x64, but i need to have the cd in whenever i have to reboot my pc.

how can i fix the MBR so that it boots into windows normally without having to use the Hirens Boot CD? Dont really know what to do at this point.

First RUN A VIRUS SCANNER (see Avira Rescue System - Google it)

Next, load your XP CD, boot from it and go to the recovery console..

from the black command prompt line

type

CHKDSK /R

run check disc, then...

If you have any hardware issues fix it now..

Next type: (if you have to reboot the pc first, that's fine)

FIXMBR

Press Enter Key (ignore first message)

Next (after it tells you the MBR was successfully writtent)

type:

FIXBOOT

Then reboot your computer..
