True - but I didnt sit there for an hour plus watching it LOL but I do like showing people how sensitive their computers are and what's actually going on inside them, so Frankie is a breadboard computer I use as a music libarary for when I'm pottering around in the workshop... And I'm old enough and geeky enough to appreciate what's going on when I see it working.

As to the why Capwin - it's my garage computer and I like seeing them work hard...

Wee vid of win7 loading...

Sorry take offense... but when someone adds this at the end of the FIRST sentence... It's an insult!?

I hope you dont "fix" your friends computers...

So next time that you decide to respond to someone that deosn't do the same way that you may as they feel that it's less hassle, don't respond like a child. No offense, but your comment quite is something that my 15 year old nephew would say...

If you really want to "show off" your knowledge, then Teach people how to do stuff. Don't just hop onto a forum to get attention or to insult people when they don't undrstand your ways or "Disagree with them".

P.S. Cool technique... What's the purpose of it again, other than not allowing defraging of the OS (?)....

Just an update - That hdd is still going strong! I had been using it with a faulty batch of p4s800-mx motherboards - we had about 10 of them from a while back that all started failing after x number of hours of uptime.. almost on the exact amount of runtime each time (another reason for me to avoid asus mobos).

Anyway it's now running on a gigabyte g31m board with a gentle overclock. Im trying to figure out how to mount this version of Frankie..

Previous Frankies have been on hunks of wood, I'm thinking of hanging this Frankie from a few of fish hooks suspended from nylon next to the wall.

Might be more earthquake proof too.

Also I have a box full of these HDD's - if I can find an easy way of shaping the glass, Frankie IV will have 4 80 gig drives in a raid (0+1) array!

(Frankie I) - a plastic cover on a 4 gig drive.. still goes too!

Put the cover back on that PSU. Now. Seriously. Before you hurt somebody.

Run the thing how you like because you think it's cool, but don't leave AC voltages lying around unprotected. That's just stupid.

Stupid is going off at someone without checking the facts first... and if you look at the photo a little closer, you can see a perspex cover over the psu.
