They are not, but I didn't know that's what you were looking at. I am not a fan of binaural either, but I know most people who prefer bass heavy music tend to bite the bullet in this budget range and go with the closed units.
The problem (imo) with circumaural units in your price range is that they lack the bass that you may be used to from your music. You tend to have to pay a decent amount of money to get circumaural cans that will give you a wow factor for bass heavy music.
With that said, I use a pair of AD700's for my casual gaming/music listening and I am also into electronica. I must say that they do lack the "oomph" when it comes to bass, but I have always enjoyed them for music, bass heavy or not. Bass comes through clean and clear, you just won't feel it much.
The AD700's are absolutely unbeatable in that price range for soundstage and comfort. I would consider them if you can get past the light bass, there really is no beating it if your preference is for circumaural in that particular price range.
That being said, if you can expand your budget a tiny bit or wait for the used deal, the Audio-Technica M50's are going to be the easy choice as far as remaining circumaural but still getting good bass for your music.Edited by BlahBlahBlah - 1/28/11 at 10:46pm
