Need your opinion FAST --- sell my i7-980X and buy i7-2600K?? - Page 5

The larger OC is no match for a 980x. I'm sure a 980x at 4.5 would WRECK a 2600k at 5 in most benchmarks.

I can tell you my 950 at 4.4 with HT on gets absolutely clobbered by a STOCK 980x.

if you can get a buyer and get a reasonable amount of money for that 980x i would then sell it. 2600k's are showing comparable performance to the 980x and they are soooo much cheaper.

The xeons are a bit faster, but do you ever pay for it then, makes the 980x look cheaper though.

Ok, so you are suggesting that i keep my 980X for about 6 months then i spend another $1000+ for the Ivy Bridge? : )

Come on man you must be smarter than that..it's a waste of money
i decided to buy i7-2600k and keep about $700 in my pocket and wait for the Ivy Bridge to release then i'll get one.

2600k will be giving me a good performance..we are not comparing i7-930 to 980X..we are comparing 2600k to 980X!
i know it's not a fair comparison 6/12 vs 4/8 Cores/Threads, but still..2600k gives a really nice performance comparing with the expensive 6 cores 980X.

I do so enjoy all the 1366 users that feel 8 threads, or even 12 threads matter in gaming.

This is the reason I have an Intel chip over an AMD chip now, because games don't use 6 cores, they sure as flip don't use 12 threads.

The true power of the 980x and 1366 lies in 2 core 2 thread, and 4 core 4 thread performance, anything else is benchmark illusion.

BUT LOOK AT MY BENCHMARKS BALLA!

Word to the wise, the i5-2550k will beat a 980x at 4.5GHz in EVERY real game benchmark.

For $800 less.

and the reason for that is..i was waiting for MSI to release the new GTX480 Lightning, and they was too late untill i realised i could just wait for GTX580 to release!

that's why it take me too long to decide..but if i bought my stuff these 2 weeks then i'll absolutely go for 1155 setup.

LOL so you decided to lose at least 200$ now and probably another 200$ later when ivy bridge comes out instead of just sticking to the 980x...

Not to be mean but your just losing money off of selling it but it looks like it's too late now. Have fun.

I know that man, im just saying it's not a fair compare "if we were talking about a benchmark that supports 6 cores"
but overall, 2600k is going to give me a great performance for the money saving.
