Need your opinion FAST --- sell my i7-980X and buy i7-2600K?? - Page 6

H, I'm saying you'll see outstanding performance in real gaming, but will be slightly below a 980x in fake benchmarks like vantage.

What is a 980x going to be worth when $400 x6 chips for SB are going to destroy it? Lets not even consider x8 chips will be the new "wasted" practice at that point, so the 980x will be so far down the totem pole it's resale value will reflect just that.

Not to be mean but your just losing money off of selling it but it looks like it's too late now. Have fun.
Hmm...NO?

if i wait 6 months and then sell my 980X..it won't get me more than $500
whos going to buy 980X when the Sandy/Ivy Bridge is out? lol.

I bought my 980X about 3 months ago (before Sandy Bridge release), that's why im a little bit confused right now.

Come on man you must be smarter than that..it's a waste of money
i decided to buy i7-2600k and keep about $700 in my pocket and wait for the Ivy Bridge to release then i'll get one.

2600k will be giving me a good performance..we are not comparing i7-930 to 980X..we are comparing 2600k to 980X!
i know it's not a fair comparison 6/12 vs 4/8 Cores/Threads, but still..2600k gives a really nice performance comparing with the expensive 6 cores 980X.
you made a thread asking for opinions on your situation, anyone that recommended you keep what you have you disagreed with them then you insult someone who gave their opinion and said keeping it was a waste of money? lol you were the one who bought all the stuff (or trolling like you did anyway). Anyway sounded like you had your mind made up before opening this thread, what's the point? Good luck selling your gear.

So I'll buy it right now for $400.

imo it's the best time to sell your 980x while resale price is still high. did the same with my 5970 and was able to sell it for a very good price.

id say sell your 980x and get the i7 2600k. having a very expensive chip you'll definitely rage when you see a much cheaper processor "sometimes" beating yours in benchmarks even though yours cost like 1000USD. it will certainly take off the load in your heart hehe

Everyone is looking at this thread the wrong way. I have seen the same statement repeated over and over: "You will not gain any performance going from the 980x to 2600k."

While that is true, he will gain around $800... which is almost enough to build a whole second system. Point being the 980x is not worth that ridiculous price, because you get something almost as good for 1/3 of that.

And if he is going to get Ivy Bridge when it comes out then why spend tons of money on a system that will knowingly get replaced? Save the money and buy cheaper stuff now just to hold you over, and invest the rest in to recyclable parts (hard drives, optical drives, PSU, case, etc.) and don't put excess money into parts that you will replace when Ivy Bridge comes out; so your motherboard, CPU, RAM, and more than likely better GPU's will come out by then too.
