Anyway sounded like you had your mind made up before opening this thread, what's the point? Good luck selling your gear.
I wasn't trying to insult anybody, sorry if i said something wrong
i was just sayin' that it's not a good move if i kept my 980X and then get Ivy Bridge..this way is going to be TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY
but if i sell my 980X right now and get 2600k instead, then when Ivy Bridge releases, this way is going to be better, powerful, cheaper.

I know that you are going to tell me "then what's the point of the thread if your are going to buy 2600k then sell it to buy LGA2011 anyway"?
well, my point of the thread wasn't keeping my 980X and buy Ivy Bridge, it was either 980X or LGA2011 cpu
so now instead of staying with 980X..it's better to go for 2600k then LGA2011 and save some bucks.
(Oh and BTW, my new system cost me more than 5k dollars).

And like what i said before, i already decided to go for 2600k, and i only want your opinions, i didn't say "help me deciding, should i keep my 980X or sell it?"

Thanks for your reply.

Still no one understand what im trying to say?

Let's just say i sold my 980X right now for $820 and bought 2600k for $339 (besides the board & the memory)

Now there is $481 left.

Ok, so in about 6 months i'll buy one of the new LGA2011 processors, let's say the MSRP is set at $1000
now after 6 months or so im going to sell my 2600k maybe for $280..(now i have a total of $761)
all i have to do is pay $239 and get a new LGA2011 cpu.
In this case, i only lost $239.

So is this better than keeping my 980X and sell it after 6 months for $500 and pay another $500 for the Ivy Bridge?
In this case i lost $500.

the answer is very obvious

*All the prices are just for example.

I don't agree with it, I am sick and tired of the SB fanboys rubbing their chip in my face, its sad because we have the faster proc

ALSO:

the 980x should last until maxwell, standard upgrade cycles should be 3 years, IB will be outdated by then

Its not fanboyism, it's common sense...

No what is sad is that your chip cost $1000, while our cost no more than $400. So at less than half the cost, we get something that is almost just as good.

Sure your chip may be able to win in synthetic multithreaded benchmarks, but in most real world applications these new Sandy Bridge CPU's are faster. Most games don't really use more than 4 cores yet, so really the only way your chip is faster is if you use it in programs that can max all 12 threads.

Have fun Cinebenching your heart out...

This is funny because on page 2 or 3 I posted that the 980x destroys the 2600k. Is is not sad that you have the faster processor, I am happy as can be

I'm confused that op don't need the 980X but needs the 2600k... If you don't need the 980X chances are you dont need the 2600k, which leaves it to, yup, 2500k for even cheaper =D
