Now I'll need a fan controller, but I wanna made myself.

Specification :
2 on/off switch for 2 rad's fans
2 potentiometer for 2 rad's fans
1 on/off switch for a future mod...

So, I start to drill a 5 1/4 faceplate I've found on an old computer.

Once I've finish, I went to buy electronic components.

Before to install all in the plastic, I made a single loop to test it before final installation. It was a great idea to try it before, because I made a mistake and take only the 2 wires who gave me 5V, so I changed those two for the other to have 12V and start to mount it on plastic plate.

Finally, I paint my white plastic faceplate and my fan controller are looking like that.

Result on case

Are you gonna shave the top ports on your case? Good going.

Heatshrinking looks good, all black is amazing

When I sleeved my fan controller I mixed up the +5v and +12v, was then wondering why it kept beeping...

I really like your fan controller; simple and pretty cost effective I think! +rep on that

Edit: Thanks for scaling down the images! Now it loads a lot faster!!!

Unfortunately, I haven't any skills to do the job, but for sure shaving top ports is gonna be very sick. Maybe later ...

This week I was looking at my pc and I was terrify when I looked over it.
I decided to remove the huge fan and replace by a plexi.

Removing fan and grill was very easy, after that I made a sketch of the fan's shape and when in a glaziery. I chose a 3/8 plexi.

I put on my case and for sure I think it's look better than the huge antec fan, but I wasn't satisfied.
I open my electronic store and I had the idea to insert red led in plexi.
2 minutes after, plexi was in a vice to be drilled to host 5mm red led.

To make holes, I use 3 different bits.

Finally I made five holes.

After that, I tried to install it on case and put the top to have a better idea of the result, but I wasn't abble to lock the top. I removed top and I found that was the fan grill screws holes the problem.
I removed them.

After that, last step was to soldered the five leds and the resistor. I also put a molex on it, so I will be easier to control with the red button on my fan controller.

I'll take picture of the final result tomorrow.

Edit : I know the plexi is very dirty, but I will clean it only when all will be done.

oh wow! nice idea, switching that fan grill for plexi! definitely ingenuitive with the LEDs. If I were you, I'd try to heatshrink the resistor so it doesnt ground out on any surrounding metals
