XFX GTX260 RMA question

Thread Starter
Since XFX is no longer a nvidia AIB, what do they return their cards with? My comp has been acting up and I've narrowed it down to my XFX 260.

So do they send back ATi cards?

I heard they do return ati for nvidia cards. Knowing them they will probably try to give you a 5770, dont take it, try to get a comparable card. I cant say what is comparable because I have not really looked into it that much, sorry.

You will probably get an ATI card, unless they have an old 260 laying around which is doubtful.

They will most likely email you saying they will return so and so card. This is where you must fight as much as possible. Might consider saying you have another 260 in sli to give you some more fighting power.

This is a great idea. But, in case it doesn't work, ask for something like a 5830.

By the way, what's wrong with a 5770? 5770 = 4870 = GTX 260, no?

They could be comparable, Idk why kinda thought the 5770 was closer to a 4850/9800GTX+ then. But still its worth a chance to claim you need another 260 for SLI or F@H.

Edit: You could always claim a 5770 is a downgrade (if they offer it) because the 5770's pixel fill, texture fill, and memory bandwidth are lower. (see link http://alienbabeltech.com/main/wp-co...9/10/Specs.png)

RL freind chase sent in his XFX GTX 280 black edition and they offered him a ATI 4870 in return, or a HD 5850 for $100.... so you will be looking at a 4850 mabe a and 5830 for $100 ?

5770 is pretty close, meh. My gripe isn't with the performance of the card but rather the loss of SLi.

Why must I fight and what the heck could I get out of it? There isn't much they can do.

Yeah, but if the tech knows his stuff they're pretty comparable. The F@H thing may be worth something though.

Meh, I'd rather have a working 260 and keep up the SLi for another few months.

Which is pretty understandable given what they stock. I don't know what my expectations are and perhaps I could go with some kind of upgrade through them. I'll have to give it some thought.
