Connecting Laptop to Onkyo TX-SR607

Morning all. smile.gif

Yesterday evening I was due to host a film evening in a dedicated film/cinema room here at university. I turned up with a laptop and a VGA-to-VGA adapter not anticipating any problems. Unfortunately it looks like the people that bought the equipment did so in a bit of a rush. They have an Onkyo TX-SR607:

Which has no VGA input at all. The TX-SR608 does:

My question is, what will be the best way of connecting a regular laptop with VGA output to this box?

I would also like to add that I know almost nothing about this sort of thing - any advice would be great!

Unfortunately the screen itself is wall mounted and all inputs are completely inaccessible - that was my second attempt to get things working!

Ok, VGA to components looks fine, but what would I do about audio?

I'm going to assume the laptop you have does not have an HDMI output - obviously you would have used that. Regardless of the output HDMI is the only interface that carries audio as well. So whether it was vga/dvi/component you still need to use the audio via the mini stereo jack - as previously mentioned.

It might be helpful if you identify the laptop you're using. Some laptops have a mini display port, which "sometimes" when using a DP->HDMI cable will also pass audio.

It's a Dell Inspiron 1525. Very basic, I'm sure it's only got VGA output.
