As noted above (with some posts that were both innacurate and a bit silly), The Sandy Bridge setup will offer better performance.

Turbo mode will run that cpu fast enough to handle any game easily (and eliminates the need for old school overclocking).

I'm a bit miffed that Intel only allows the K series processors to be overclocked but that said until AMD's new processors are out (and evaluated), Intel is the way to go.

I honestly dont see AMD taking the Lead in the CPU department at all. Its very rare that Intel gets spanked by AMD. Thats just my opinion

Okay, I am very interested in this polls result. The OP clearly stated that they will NOT be overclocking. You can see and find more undeniable evidence that the i5 2300 and i5 2400 are SUBSTANTIALLY faster than any Phenom II X4 available while consuming less power, including the one he was thinking about buying.

So WHY does OCN have 10 users that voted for the AMD build? Can you please tell me? I understand arguments about builds under other circumstances but this specific thread just jumps out to me as a horrible form of fanboyism that is going to cause other users to buy the wrong build, waste their money and be ultimately unhappy when they find out they made a mistake and their friends rig is much faster while they only spent like $40 more.

most likely loyal users to the AMD brand or users just trying to confuse people. as you stated even the Non Clockable 2300 & 2400 still beat any AMD CPU on the market. They can stick with their AMD but we all know where the Power is

Ugh...

Look, the 1090T has 2 more cores for $100.00 less than the 2600K. But the 2600K, it beats the 1090T in overall performance. Ok? If you like running multiple programs like photoshop, video editing software and a game, then grab a 1090T, it can take more programs. Want the fastest overall performance? Get a 2600K. This is why I have a 1090T and not a 2600K.

Ugh...

Are you trolling? Saying something is more cores is better is just a dumb as saying something with more MHz is better. The 2600K is better than the 1090T AT EVERYTHING. Cores are not like some magical thing that make processors better at multitasking, the power of each core makes a huge difference. It can really only (with a few exceptions) be compared between similar lines of processors.

Look it up.

u r seriously misguided.......
even the old generation i7's beat the 1090t at 95% of the tasks that too by a decent margin......
u ask why as ur 1090t has 6 cores compare to i7's 4 cores....thats bcoz
lets take an example would u have 4 powerfull cars or 6 weaker ones....
same here the 6 cores are weaker in 1090t,its intruction processing capablity per clock is quite less than a i7.....let alone newer gen i5's,i7's......
so stop spreading this false info......x6 is nowhere near the i7 performance level.....
my freind got his 1090t rig and i got my i7 cost difference was not too much in terms of indian currency...but now he is quite unhappy with it...and btw the only few programs that could use all 6 cores are very rare and even if they r present very few people use it......so it does not make any sense to take an x6 now unless u r getting it for half the price of an i7......

Windows 7, the operating system, spreads out system loads equally(or somewhat equally) over all cores, so yes, I see loads on ALL of my cores, not just two or four. And the 1090T DOES NOT be beat constantly, or at least not by much. Go take a glance at the AnAnd tech bench, will you? The 1100T and the i7 920 are pretty neck and neck, with the 1100t beating it most of the time.

The older gen i7s get SPANKED by the 1090T FYI. Like I said, check the benchmarks.

first of all every body here can see who is being a fanboy...
and as for anandtech reviews they are far from accurate...and even by ur argument that 1090t/1100t is neck to neck with i7 920...please see that i7 920 is 2.66ghz and 1090t/1100t are clocked much higher than that....so that itself shows how much ahead intel i7 is from ur x6......
and talking about load balancing then i guess i7 still beats x6 coz it has 8 threads......
please dont be childish and see the facts.......dont just pressume that everybody who opposes u or for the matter of fact corrects u ,is a fanboy....

Ya old generation i7 beat 1090t .Personal Exp. 1090t is better only in Multitasking . In games and other task I7 is better .

Dont be a Fanboy.
