The 870 chipset is pretty much just a redo of the 770 chipset.
Neither support 8x-8x CrossfireX.
Here is the proof on AMD's site
I'm saying that if it did have 8x-8x crossfire, it would be more of an 890X chipset (just like there is a 790X chipset and there will be a new 990X chispet as part of the 900 series platform), but an 890X northbridge was not developed for the 800 chipset series (don't get confused with the 890XA-UD3, that is just 790X with an SB850 southbridge). The only way this board could support CrossfireX is if there was an external PCI-E lane regulator chip such as Lucid Hydra.
Hoops: Unless you're stuck on getting an ASRock mobo, for in between you can get the GA-870A-UD3 which supports the same features, has the better power phase, etc. for $99.Edited by xd_1771 - 1/29/11 at 7:50pm
