There's not a lot of point in H2O cooling it though. It's reasonably cool and quiet to start with, and it has no voltage control so it's not like H2O gives you any big advantage.

For that price it's way beyond unbeatable. Perf is real close to a 480 ... can't go wrong as long as there's nothing wrong w/it. Which at that price, I'd be a little concerned about unless it's a friend or a reputable shop.

Until you OC them both to their max OC's, in which case the 470 will dominate
But i mean come on, that's a pretty cool as@ waterblock, and i want to keep the heat out of the rest of my case. Will this card not play any game that is a DX11 game?

I saw a huge upgrade going from DX10 to DX11, but that's just me.

DX11 is still new, both cards will eventually become outdated but the 295 will start losing ground much sooner than the 460. It's not like DX10 will always be mainstream.

I'm just saying ... it's really not gonna OC any higher, and temps on air aren't that bad. But if you see other advantages ... knock yourself out brother, it's your scrill

There's only a couple game out there ATM where you'd have to make what I'd call a noticeable compromise by not having DX11, and those are Dirt 2 and BFBC2.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe those both have only DX9 and DX11 code paths, so w/o DX11 HW, you are in DX9, which is fairly noticeable vs DX11 (but doesn't look bad by any stretch).

Other than that most of the DX11 titles also offer DX10 (Stalker CoP, Metro, for example), and they really don't look all that different in DX10 vs 11 tbh.

Mafia 2 is DX9, to address an earlier question.

It frankly looks amazing for being DX9 IMHO. It is also amazing that DX9 is still so commonly used even though it's been out for 7 years now. It clearly has capabilities that were way ahead of it's time, as the best-looking new DX9 stuff is really not that far behind the times in looks vs. the newest DX11 stuff.

Also, the older DX versions like 6, 7 and 8 lasted like a year or two. Once DX9 came out, games on earlier DX versions ceased to come out VERY quickly. If you look at a DX8 game nowadays, it really looks pretty terrible.

There is no doubt in my mind that DX9 hardware was the biggest leap in gaming ever, and it will go down as the greatest version of DirectX, and never be surpassed in terms of it's useful longevity.

Since when 2x GTX 460 equals to a GTX 480? This SLI is much better than this GPU by a significant margin.

It is fairly quiet, but cool? It's a great card for winter, even with all the fermis i have the 295 co-op is still the hottest running card I've owned.

But at that price OP, I would get it. Directx11 or not, it is a beast of a card.

BFBC2 has DX9, DX10, and DX11! Dirt 2 was only a DX9, or DX11 game.

You stand corrected!

I will agree with you though, DX9 has had a stranglehold on the development side for quite some time. The reason being, as you mentioned, is that both DX10 and DX11 have not quite had the feature set implemented that the developers want / need. They can do comparable work in DX9, which I'm sure they are more then familiar with.
