H70 vs H50 w/ Identical Fans in Push/Pull - Page 2

Depends on what you want. Looking at your sig, you have a i5-2500k, which is a pretty cool chip. If you want decent cooling and care about noise levels, I would opt to go with the H50. If you want to hit something like 4.5k or above and care little about noise, then go with the H70. Be forewarned that you'll need good clearance in your case to fit the H70 if you decide to get it, because from all the pics I've seen the radiator and two fans altogether is thick. A lot of reviewers tend to say the H70 is also loud when fans are run full RPM.

I had a H50, which I passed on to somebody else. I have a i7-930 which can run quite hot and it would routinely hit 55c with the H50 clocked up to 3.8ghz with 1.3v. I decided to switch to a Thermalright Venomous X and it doesn't exceed 44c, but I have 2 140mm fans above it and a 120mm fan behind it, which does help the Venomous X.
Should I upgrade?

I thought it would be obvious that the newer more expensive update is better, it just depends on how much you have to spend.

Garbage, they are loud and have an odd hum. I have GT14's and it is night and day 2-3c better temps maybe but they are silent.

Both the NH-D14 or the Silver Arrow performs better than H50/H70, if I'm not mistaken...

I have never messed with watercooling before and I am terrified to mess something up and ruin my system.

With the Corsair units, should they leak, then my entire Rig is covered and they will replace everything.

Should my custom loop leak, I am screwed. hehe

Do the warranties on separate components cover water damage?
I own the h50 with a push/pull using scythe s-flex 21f's and it was decent enough on my q9450. I decided to upgrade to the rasa kit with the 340 rad and I love it. I, too, was a bit put-off in doing the water cooling setup, but I was sort of thrusted into the situation when a buddy asked me to help build him a brand new rig with water cooling. Since I'd never done anything like this before, I was hesitant to help, due to my fear of messing up and ruining stuff.

At any rate, he bought me the rasa kit and said 'experiment on yours first, then do mine the right way'. So I did it just about 4 nights ago and, as it turns out, it's not that difficult to do. I had zero problems with my kit and zero leaks. Got the air bubbles out within 20 minutes and saw a definite temp drop idle AND under load. my h50 was doing about 51-55 under load and with this custom loop I now only cross 45 when my room is hotter than normal.

If youre looking for that push over the edge to get into a custom kit, I'd say go for it. It is a lot easier than it looks and there is a great amount of support on this forum alone to help you out.
