hello people , i am building a new corei3 system , i plan on getting

1: Asus P7P55-LX or Asus P7P55D ( a bit more expensive than Asus P7P55-LX)
2: corei3 550

now my questions are :

1: which one of the boards are gddr3 and gddr5
2: does a gddr3 card work on a gddr5 slot ( from what iv heard it does work)
3: if it does not work should i buy a evga gts450 super clocked ? (cuz i got a gddr3 9800gt)
4:do the following boards support the ide hdd ?

the works i am going to do are :

1: coding with visual express 2008 for compiling builds of a game we are making on unity engine
2: vid editing / photoshop / 3ds max renders / maya renders (high poly)
2: gaming

so is the processor and other sutff good enough ? ofcourse i can oc them
yes i am on a strict budget , i sold my dual core and ddr2 rams but kept the xfxnforce 630i for a back up p4 build incase

if you are going to be editing videos and photos you would probably need more than a i3, possibly an i5 or i7. sandy bridge just came out on 1155 and i think that would be a better option. probably better to go with Intel i5-2300 / i5-2400 / i5-2500.

as for gpu i think the gddr version wont matter with the newer mobos, the main thing is teh speed ie x16 x8 etc. both boards would support the newest gddr and are backwards compatible.

a newer graphics card would be recommended as 9800gt is pretty outdated, you should be aiming for gtx 460 if you are going to be editing or gaming.

as for ide, check on the manufacturer's website i think those mobos do support ide but then again sata is more common and is better to

thnx for the reply mate , but i am on a strict bugdet , and my 9800gt is almost 50% oced with home made water cooler , and i used to do the same stuff with my over clocked dual core and had no probs with vid making or compiling big game builds , so as i3 as a newr tech and as it is faster its enogh for me , as i will oc it obviously to as far as 4ghz with my home made cooler , i appriciate your help on the ddr stuff , thank you alot my friend , now my worries are over , if the board can take dggr5 i will get a gts450 and oc it as a monster , thats on my budget , Asus P7P55-LX is my goal and its 1156 , the 1155 boards are expensive

The 1155 boards really aren't that expensive, you'd pay a bit more for the CPU, but you'd be getting maybe 3 or 4 times the performance from it.

If by any possible stretch you can get a sandy bridge seriously consider it, the gains for the additional cost are incredible.
